How to Make Galaxy Slime
Kids will love mixing up their very own piece of the galaxy! Have fun making this super stretchy galaxy slime. It’s so easy to make and the results are beautiful!

Instructions:
Step 1: Find what you need
Gather your supplies and materials.
Step 2: Mix the first ingredients
Pour 1/3 cup of clear glue into a bowl.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda.
Stir well, until the baking soda is mixed into the glue.
If there are any clumps, use the back of the spoon to try and break them up.
Pour black paint into the glue mixture. You can measure about 2 teaspoons into the mixture, or just eyeball it.
We recommend adding a bit at a time and adding more until you reach a deep black colour (or whatever shade you’re looking for).
Stir the black paint into the glue mixture until well combined, and then sprinkle the surface with fine silver glitter.
Step 3: Activate the slime
Once you’ve mixed the glitter in, add 2 teaspoons of contact lens solution to the bowl.
Stir well. Squish the slime mixture down and keep stirring until the slime starts to come away from the bowl and you can’t stir any more.
Pick up the slime and begin stretching and kneading it. It will be quite sticky at first, but don’t panic! This is normal, and it will get less sticky the more you work it.
Keep stretching the slime and clean it off your hands and the bowl by sticking the slime to itself.
Stop kneading and squishing once the slime doesn’t stick to your hands anymore. (You can add a few extra drops of contact solution if you still find it sticky.)
Step 4: Repeat and combine the galaxy slime colours
Repeat the same recipe to make blue, purple, and pink slimes. We used metallic acrylic paint to colour our other slimes.
Break off 1/4 of the black slime and stretch it into a line. Set it down.
Do the same for the other colours of slime and set them down below the black, so each colour is touching.
Stretch out the slime and fold it over itself.
Pull the slime out again. Your galaxy slime is now ready to play with.
As you stretch and swirl the space slime, you’ll see spiral galaxies start to form!
You can also add star glitter onto the slime to make it extra sparkly.
Your galaxy slime is complete!
Helpful Tips:
Don’t worry if your slime feels sticky at first! That’s totally normal. As you knead and stretch it with your hands, it’ll become soft, smooth, and oh-so-satisfying to squish.
Here’s a cool slime trick: it’s self-cleaning! If the galaxy slime is sticking to your fingers while mixing, just grab a ball of slime and dab it against the sticky bits. The slime lifts right off your hands, leaving you mess-free and ready to play!
What type of glue is best for making galaxy slime?
For rich, deep galaxy colours, we recommend using clear glue. Clear glue keeps the paint colours bold and vibrant, while white glue tends to turn them more pastel.
Plus, clear glue gives your slime a gorgeous glossy shine and a soft texture that’s extra stretchy and fun to play with!
Our favourite glue choice? Elmer’s clear glue! It consistently makes the stretchiest slime. We also tested this recipe with Craft Smart glue from Michaels, which definitely worked, but the texture was firmer and a bit more rubbery.
That said, white school glue works in a pinch. It still makes great slime, just with a slightly different look.
How can I colour my galaxy slime?
Acrylic paint gives the richest, darkest colours, especially if you use metallic paint. It adds a shimmery dimension that’s perfect for a cosmic look.
To really make your slime sparkle like the stars, add fine silver glitter. It’s the perfect finishing touch and brings that magical galaxy vibe to life.
If you want even more sparkle, sprinkle star-shaped glitter or confetti on top while you play. It looks beautiful and adds a satisfying crunch! We recommend adding it on top, not mixing it in — otherwise, it tends to disappear inside the slime.
You can also try mica powder for a pearlescent gleam. It makes your slime look silky and almost holographic! For the best results, combine paint and mica powder to get both deep colour and beautiful shimmer.
Will the galaxy slime keep its swirls?
Galaxy slime looks amazing when you first swirl it together, but eventually the colours will blend into grey or black as you play with it. That’s just part of the fun!
To make those magical swirls last a little longer, divide each colour into multiple sections (4 to 6 each) before combining them. That way, you’ll get more chances to recreate those dreamy galaxy effects. This will also allow multiple kids to each have their own ball of space slime!
Even after the colours mix, you’ll still see sparkles and shimmery streaks throughout the slime. And most importantly, it stays stretchy, squishy, and endlessly fun to play with!
