A former Wimbledon finalist, Sabine Lisicki, who was all set to make her comeback after almost two years, has decided to delay her return. Lisicki, who reached the Wimbledon final in 2013, had planned to play in a WTA 125 tournament in Mallorca this week but has withdrawn, stating that she's not quite ready yet.
Lisicki's last appearance on the court was at an ITF event in Dubai back in December 2023. She had hoped to return to action a year after giving birth, but it seems she's taking her time to ensure she's at her best.
In an interview with RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland, Lisicki shared her thoughts on retirement, saying, "I haven't thought for a second about ending my career because of my pregnancy. I want to retire on my terms, at a time that feels right for me. I don't want external factors to dictate my retirement."
She added, "I put a lot of pressure on myself. I'm ambitious and driven, and I'll know when the time is right for my comeback."

She went on to beat Kaia Kanepi and Agnieszka Radwanska, advancing to the final where she faced Marion Bartoli. Despite her best efforts, Bartoli proved too strong, and Lisicki fell in straight sets.
